Milestones are those periods in time that mark significant achievements. Celebrating a milestone involves not only acknowledging theCampaign Chairman, Thomas Sharkey and his wife Ruth Greet Guests as they Arrive to the Gala present, but also reflecting on the journey and looking forward to the next goal. On November 6, at a gala event to celebrate its approaching 150-year anniversary, Seton Hall University launched Ever Forward: The Seton Hall Sesquicentennial Campaign, a major initiative to raise a $150 million.

The evening began in the "courtyard of history," a spacious room reminiscent of Seton Hall's "Green" and replete with park benches, street lamps and huge glass-enclosed displays showcasing a treasure throve of historical artifacts from Seton Hall's archives. Some of the items on display were the original bell from the chapel, the book featuring the first mention of Seton Hall in print and a photo of the 1897 football team. The archbishop offered an invocation to welcome the crowd of nearly 500.

After conversing in the courtyard of history, University President Mosignor Robert Sheeran welcomes the Buccino Scholars to the Galaguests enjoyed dinner as the evening moved into the program portion of the event. The Ever Forward campaign was formally announced by Tom Sharkey, campaign chairman and he revealed that $72 million has already been raised toward the $150 million goal. Guests also were treated to the premier of the Campaign Video. In addition, 13 alumni and friends were honored for their tremendous generosity to the campaign. Kent Manahan, senior anchor of New Jersey Network News and member of University Board of Regents served as master of ceremonies. Concluding the program, University President, Monsignor Robert Sheeran shared his vision for the future of Seton Hall University.

The ceremonies were followed by an evening of dancing and delighting in delectable desserts after organizers transformed the courtyard of history into a grand ballroom revealing in murals the future of Seton Hall. Guests received a take-home reminder: the Fall 2004 issue of Seton Hall UniversitFrom Left to Right Joseph De Pierro, George Ring, Kurt Borowski and Thomas Sharkeyy Magazine, which featured a special section devoted to the launch of Seton Hall’s Ever Forward campaign. Reflective of the University’s bold vision, the Ever Forward campaign special section captures the energy of an exciting transformation of the Seton Hall campus.

With its reputation for excellence, Seton Hall stands as a beacon of hope—attracting students from around the country and world. This year 1,225 freshman and 275 transfer students chose to become Pirates. With the addition of this new class, Seton Hall University is now home to almost 10,000 students and more than 70,000 alumni.
