The Carriage House will become the
Welcome Center for the campus or "the Front Hall"
The Carriage House, located by the main gate, was originally a home
to horses and buggies when the Bishop of Newark resided on
campus. Now the building serves as an art center for the
University.
Through the Ever Forward campaign, the Carriage House will
undergo a much-needed facelift. Layers of paint will be
removed from the brick structure, and a new roof will be
installed with copper on the turret. The University will
also install new windows and remove bricks from windows on
the first floor. Simultaneously, office space and meeting
rooms will be created.
The newly renovated building will contain offices for Human
Resources, Enrollment Services, Student Recruitment and
Financial Aid counselors. Overall, it will serve as the
welcome center, or the "Front Hall," of campus. It will be the
first stop for prospective students and their parents, new
or prospective employees, alumni and other visitors.
