Stafford Hall, located behind Presidents Hall, was
originally called the College Building and was home to many
classes in the late 1800’s. It was designed by Jeremiah
O’Rourke, the same architect who designed Presidents Hall
and the Chapel. Damaged by three fires, the building was
reduced to one story.
With the help of the Ever Forward campaign, the top two
stories of Stafford Hall will be rebuilt with the original
spires, similar to those of Presidents Hall and the Chapel.
In addition, there are plans to replace the front porch,
which was once a hallmark of the campus. It is the
University’s hope that with these plans, Stafford Hall will
regain its distinguished architectural style.
The initial $4 million plan is to renovate Stafford Hall as the
new Alumni Center and the Hall of Fame Room. Newly
renovated, Stafford Hall will serve as a gathering spot for
alumni and Pirate fans, with a multifunction space for
events, lectures, dinners and offices upstairs.
