John C. Whitehead School of
Diplomacy and International Relations
A key objective of the Ever Forward campaign is to
raise funds to build a new $15 million home for the Whitehead
School of Diplomacy and International Relations. Only six
years old, the school was established in alliance with the
United Nations Association of the United States of America
and is associated with the UN through its Department of
Public Information. The School’s academic programs, leading
to a Bachelor of Science or a Master of Arts in diplomacy
and international relations, prepare an international
student body to become the next generation of global
leaders.
Because the Whitehead School has gained tremendous recognition over
the years, it has quickly outgrown its present location on
the first floor of McQuaid Hall. A new building is urgently
needed to accommodate the Whitehead School’s rapid growth.
The new building will be an open, two-story, glass and steel
atrium built on the site of Duffy Hall, which will be torn
down. Featuring a mock UN room, international reading room,
classrooms and a public space for conferences and to welcome
prominent leaders to campus, the building will house a
distinctive professional school with 18 faculty and 12
administrators and will better prepare our students to
become the distinguished global leaders that they strive to
be.
The new building will not only conform to the needs of this
flourishing school, but will also be a significant global
presence on Seton Hall’s campus. Ultimately, this building
will be a site from which the University will promote global
consciousness and from which the United Nations can come
alive, propelling Seton Hall to greater national and international
prominence. |
